Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive platypus, known to make an appearance in the area.
Highlands 4WD Tag-along
Embark on the ultimate off-road adventure through the hidden gems of Central Queensland Highlands, all from the comfort of your own vehicle. Our 4WD tour takes you on a journey over rough and rugged sandstone ranges, culminating in breathtaking views from our lookouts of some of the largest gorges in Carnarvon National Park.
Custom / Private Experiences
We pride ourselves on our tour flexibility, thanks to our extensive access to diverse eco-systems and prime locations for exploring and mountain climbing. If you're an avid birdwatcher, you're in luck; Nyanda is home to a vast array of bird species that call our lakes and waterholes home. Or perhaps you're looking for a more intimate experience, like a private sunset at one of our lookouts, or the thrill of spotting a platypus in the wild? We're happy to organise those for you as well!
Bringing Unique, Quality Tours to the Carnarvon Gorge Area
Central Queensland Nature Tours was established in early 2022, providing nature-based walking tours in the Carnarvon Gorge, Central Queensland, along with scenic tag-along driving tours through a neighbouring private cattle station, Nyanda Station.
The Nyanda Station tours take guests to areas the public has never seen on exclusive, small group tours. From four-wheel-drive tag-along tours viewing the spectacular sandstone cliffs of Carnarvon National Park, to scenic driving and walking tours through the private Nyanda Gorge.
Central Queensland Nature Tours can also host private groups on tailored experiences to see the best of the Central Queensland Highlands. Our experienced accredited Savannah Guides will help you experience the best there is to offer in this sandstone oasis of outback Queensland.
Thank you so much Caity and Christian for sharing such a spectacular property and special sites with us as your first clients - proud to kick of CQ Tours! Our visit to the beautiful, pristine Nyanda Gorge with a tag along tour and walk up through the creek and gorge is something we won’t forget with the abundance of wildlife (even a platypus!), birdlife (great to see emus, brolgas, bustards, azure kingfisher, magpie geese and wedgies), wonderful ancient cycads, orchards and native trees we’ve never heard of before. Your obvious passion, deep love, respect and knowledge of this special place really helped us appreciate the whole experience all the more. To have all that to ourselves with the private tours on offer was really unique. So glad we followed up with a tagalong to Black Alley with magnificent sweeping landscape views of the ranges and sandstone gorges all looking so very healthy and green. And great to get some appreciation of life on an historic cattle property where so much of nature is allowed to thrive. Congratulations and we look forward to returning. Cathy Reade
