Hello to our wonderful readers!
G’day! We’re Caity and Christian, and if you’re reading this, you’re about to get a peek into how we ended up living our dream—running tours through some of the wildest, most jaw-dropping parts of Queensland. It’s a story that starts with two outdoorsy kids who couldn’t sit still and ends with us showing off our little slice of paradise to people like you. So, grab a coffee (or a cold one), and let’s chat about how we got here and why we love it so much.

Our Outdoor Roots

We’ve always been hooked on the outdoors. Once we moved out of home, we were the ones dangling off cliffs as abseiling and rock-climbing instructors, squeezing through caves, or lacing up our boots for a hike. But the real game-changer? When we were 18, we scraped together every cent we had and flew off to Nepal for the Everest Base Camp trek. We were two wide-eyed kids, standing at the foot of the world’s biggest mountains, breathing in that crisp air, and realising—this is it. This is what we want our lives to feel like. Adventure, freedom, and a front-row seat to nature’s best show. That trip lit a fire in us to share our own backyard with the world.
Fast forward a bit, and life threw us a curveball—COVID-19. Queensland locked down, our old jobs vanished, and we found ourselves at a crossroads. So, we packed up and moved to Nyanda, my (Caity's) family property, right next door to Carnarvon Gorge. If you haven’t heard of it, Carnarvon’s this rugged, ancient wonderland—think towering cliffs, hidden waterholes, and stories etched into the land. Nyanda’s got its own magic too, with a wild mix of cultural history and geological quirks. Out there, surrounded by cattle stations and untouched bush, we saw something special. These places aren’t just pretty—they’re proof that well-managed land can protect nature, not harm it. We knew right then: this was our chance to show it off and spread that message.
So, we started our business. We’re both accredited Savannah Guides—Christian’s even a director and Senior Guide with Savannah Guides Ltd.—and together, we run every tour ourselves. I (Caity) handle the chats with our guests, making sure everyone feels welcome, thanks to years in hospitality. Christian’s the wizard behind the website and all the nuts-and-bolts stuff, fuelled by his obsession with digging into the environment’s secrets. Our tours? They’re split between Carnarvon Gorge—hiking to all the must-see spots—and Nyanda, where you get a rare glimpse into a place most people never step foot in. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s packed with history.
What keeps us going? It’s that moment when someone on a tour stops, looks around, and you see it click— that deeper connection to the world around them. We’re not just here to point out cool rocks or pretty views (though we’ve got plenty of those). We love unpacking the stories, sparking those big conversations, and watching people walk away with a new appreciation for nature.
We’re living proof you can chase what you love and turn it into something real. For us, it’s about inspiring you—to get out there, do what sets your soul on fire, and maybe even join us in this incredible corner of the world. Carnarvon Gorge and Nyanda are special, and we’re bloody lucky to call them home. So, come along sometime. Let’s wander, chat, and soak it all in together. We’d love to show you why we’ll never get tired of this life.
Cheers,
Caity & Christian
I loved my tour of the caves with Caity. 🦇 I'm really looking forward to a tour with this lovely couple's new company, next time I'm in central Queensland. 🤗
Love your love story, and am excited to see you both flourish in your new adventure.
